THIS CHRISTMAS

We have heard reports of:

Residents being threatened with huge fines for placing bows and tinsel on trees and bushes on nature strips

​

Traders being warned to remove festive decorations or face fines

 

Community Christmas lights being cancelled because of

too much Council red tape

​​

​Now more than ever we need to send a message to the bloated Council bureaucracies that Christmas is a time for JOY not a time for them to impose their autocratic ways.

Councils love to stifle fun and community spirit, so let's nice put them back in their place this Christmas.

​​How can you help and participate?

We encourage you to decorate ANY shrub or tree on nature strips with BIG RED BOWS or Tinsel, take a photo and upload here.

STONNINGTON COUNCIL PETITION

To the Councillors of the City of Stonnington:


I. the undersigned petition the councillors of Stonnington to:


  1. Pause the introduction of paid residential permit fees outside our homes

  2. Commit to consulting with all current permit holders and the whole of Stonnington again.

  3. Write to all current permit holders seeking their feedback.

  4. Ensure that the consultation is no less than a 6-week period.

  5. Publish those consultation results prior to making another decision.

  6. If less than 80% of respondents support the fee introduction, abandon its implementation.
