Boroondara Council PETITION

DO NOT close a public road without

community consultation first.

To the Mayor and Councillors of the Boroondara City Council

I, the undersigned, petition the Mayor and Councillors of the Boroondara City Council to:

  • Note that thousands of users of reserve road were not consulted prior to the Council decision on 2/12/2024.

  • Commence Community consultation to ensure all stakeholders are considered before Council makes any further changes.

  • Prepare an expert report into the options available to improve child safety - the options are to include keeping the road open to local traffic and closing the road to local traffic.

  • Prepare a report on the impact of closing the road and removing 79 car spaces from the surrounding area, showing where the traffic will be displaced. The report is to contain the impact on existing streets and parking locations.

  • Prepare a costing of all options in order for Council to share the costs with Camberwell Primary School.

  • Invite public submissions by February 2025.

  • Bring these reports back to council for consideration on all options available.
